I've lived in Key West since 1982 and although Key West is part of the Florida government... I also am a citizen of "The Conch Republic".
I am 47 years old and have 2 daughters. My oldest is named Destoni and my youngest is named Jamie.
Conch houses are made out of wooden siding and were first built by the ship captains that settled here in the 1800s. Conch houses are usually built very small, (our house is only 25 feet wide by 25 feet long), so we try to use every space available. Much like you would do if you were to live aboard a ship.

I have never been to Nebraska, but I understand that it is a beautiful state with farms stretching for miles and miles. It has been a very long lime since I've seen a cow or horse up close live. We do have Key Deer on Big Pine Key, but they're only as large as a big dog.
Although it may get down to the middle 60s and as high as the low 90s, the adverage temperature in Key West is about 82 degrees. The water temperature throughout the Keys can get as high as 86 degrees in the summer.
Being surrounded by water 125 miles off the American mainland, my favorite pass time is fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore in the blue water of the Gulfstream. Some of the fish I've caught are: Barracuda, Snappers, Grouper, Tuna, Sailfish, Cobia, Sharks, Wahoo, and Kingfish.
During open season we go snorkeling and SCUBA diving for warm water Lobster too.
It seems to me the closer a person lives to the Equator the spicier their food is. I tend to like Conch Chowder, Conch Salad, and Conch Fritters. My favorite marinade for chicken and meat is the Jamaican Jerk recipe I have posted on my web site. I also eat a lot of the fresh fish we catch right off our Island home.
Key West has become a major tourist destination, and we have visitors from all over the world. With this in mind, we have many special days. One of my favorites is the Underwater Music festival. A radio station places underwater speakers throughout Looe Key and play songs with an underwater theme. Although you can still hear the show in your car and home, most of us go snorkeling and diving on that day and listen to the music under the water. Here is somemore information about
I am looking forward to our virtual vacation through the Carribbean. So without further delay lets begin our journey from my Island in the sun.
